Within the framework of the development plan of WOC, members of the Project Management Office (PMO) team of the Major Projects Department presented the first presentation of the Project Management Methodology (PM2) to be applied to new development projects, which includes best practices in project management in addition to the project management information system accompanying the methodology. Where the meeting was opened by Mr. Adel Abaza – Manager of the Main Projects Department at WOC, indicating that the establishment of the Project Management Office (PMO) in the department came in response and in line with the vision and strategy of the National Oil Corporation NOC, which aims to raise production rates and establish the Strategic Programs Office (SPO) of the National Oil Corporation NOC and as a continuation of the efforts made by the engineering and project departments in this regard.
It is worth mentioning that the project management methodology to be applied by the Main Project Management Methodology (PM2) has been successfully applied in European Commission projects and includes plans, checklists, records and ready-to-use forms that are flexible so that they can be detailed according to the status of each project in addition to a clear matrix of tasks and responsibilities for all functions and activities in the project. This makes it easier to follow up on the status of projects and to report project performance to the concerned authorities through the Dashboard.
Currently, a selection of specialists in the field of establishing and operating PMO project management offices are being used, who have previous achievements and successful experiences with international companies in the same field, another workshop will be organized soon, targeting the Management Committee and the relevant technical departments, and work and coordination will take place with the Engineering Department in this field.
