Abiding with the WOC HSE policy and requirements in protecting the areas around the oilfields under the HSE Department follow up, and under the supervision of Professional Safety Section at Gialo oilfield. In the training area lately established at Gialo oilfield which was the first one among the sector companies, at not Feb. 28th 2020 the first technical presentation was opened for (Firefighting, Rescue and Ambulance) operations in attendance of team from 103 oilfield belonging to Zweitina. Libyan Red Crescent Gialo branch, Al-Wahat Security Directorate and Professional Safety Board were among the participants of this event.
The presentation started with a speech by Mr. Ibrahim Mhena the oilfield superintendent who submitted his thanks to the attendants stating that WOC always aims to protect the environment as 400 thousands barrels were injected to dispose the remaining water. Mr. Ibrahim directed his greetings to the participants and the residents of oilfield around areas and thanked them for their continuous cooperation.
Mr. Lutfi Annaka the HSE Superintendent thanked all the safety section employees who assisted in preparing this presentation, stating that in this first step WOC young men confirmed their ability to challenge the obstacles and circumstances to develop this area to make it in future as training center for firefighting, rescue and ambulance.
In this regard, Mr. Abdallah Hreish the 103 oilfield coordinator of Zweitina stated that our attendance today is to watch this initiation done by WOC which is considered as good step to make contact between the sector companies, and with this training employees will be able to face any fires.
Mr. Adel Bourisha Safety Section Supervisor of Gialo Oilfield who prepared and supervised this project said that since five months I have contacted the HSE Manager who welcomed this proposal to establish an area to train for firefighting, evacuation and rescue and to coordinate training for some employees with National Safety Board in the around areas to be ready for any emergency which may occur.
After six months will meet number of the sector companies to monitor the achievements in the training center, noting that this work was done in cooperation with all the oilfield sections.
The Red Crescent speech emphasized on the first aids training provided by them, to assist the emergency case first aids before moving to hospital, they sanctioned such idea to make such project servicing the sector companies and around areas residents.
Captain Abobaker Hmeida, Firefighting and Rescue Unit Head at Security Directorate of Al-Wahat Gialo, praised on WOC efforts in such good step supporting the oilfields around areas, “ Were felt so happy and satisfied after watching the high qualification by operators and safety employees of Gialo oilfield “ he said.
Then we interviewed Mr. Radwan Ali the A/Supervisor Safety Section of Gialo oilfield “ Our participation in preparing the training area was in assisting the safety section in providing the materials from the oilfield to this area, today we have seen the fruits of our efforts wishing to enhance and continue the training for employees.
